Creating a Term Database for Patentability Search in the Field of Nanotechnology
Abstract
The present study examines the design of a multilingual database of technical terms that could be used in automated searches for patents in the area of nanotechnologies. Patents in the field of nanotechnology present several challenges due to terminology issues, documentation in several languages, and different terminological expressions used in science. The database suggested includes the organization of technical terminology into noun-based categories in three languages (Azerbaijani, English, and Russian) and also incorporates synonym management techniques. The study explains the use of structured vocabularies of technical terms for automated patent searching and presents the development of a multilingual database in order to aid semi-automatic patentability evaluation.
